Suspected militants fire at a road construction company truck in Assam’s Dima Hasao

Guwahati/IBNS: Suspected armed militants of Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA) opened fire at a vehicle of a road construction company in Assam’s Dima Hasao district on Thursday.

There was no report of any casualty in the incident.

The incident took place at Mailoo under Langting police station in the hill district, where a 10-12 member armed militant group fired several rounds of bullet at a truck of the road construction company.

According to the reports, the suspected armed militants picked up the company workers and took them to an isolated place along with the company’s vehicles.

Later, the armed men pullout the workers from the vehicles and opened fire at a truck and released the workers.

A worker of the road construction company said that, the armed men took them to a jungle area and told them to ask the owner of the company to give the ransom money.

“They threatened that, if the ransom money is not paid then they will come again and kill us,” the worker said.

The suspected militants left from the area after firing several rounds of bullet at the vehicle.

Following the incident, a police team of Dima Hasao district had reached the spot and rescued the workers.

Police has launched operation against the suspected armed militants.
