Aurangabad/Mumbai/UNI: Maharashtra FDA Minister Rajendra Shingane on Thursday said proper planning is being done through his Department to ensure equal supply of oxygen to all the districts of the state and also for the availability of remdesivir injection.

Mr Shingane said that the number of Covid patients in the state has increased rapidly. Medical oxygen is extremely important for the treatment of these patients, he added.

"Therefore, it is imperative that all the districts in the state get the oxygen produced in the state and received from other states smoothly and according to the requirements of the respective districts," he said.

For this, the FDA has prepared a statement of supply to the Liquid Medical Oxygen(LMO) Producers in the State by stating the amount of oxygen they need to supply in each district on a daily basis, he stated.

Today, the administration has issued a supply statement to supply 1713 tons of oxygen to the producers.

On May 4, 2021, 1720 tons of oxygen was supplied to different districts of the state. This includes 257.5 tons of oxygen received from other states.

The state received 116.5 tonnes of liquid medical oxygen from Gujarat, 60 tonnes from Bhilai Chhattisgarh and 81 tonnes from Bellary in Karnataka. For May 5, 2021, the manufacturers will deliver 1661 tons of oxygen. This is evident from the proposed distribution letter received from the manufacturer.

Efforts are being made day and night by the FDA and the nodal officers appointed by the government to ensure timely supply of oxygen to all the districts of the state.

Production of remdesivir is being made by Cipla, Hetero, Zydus, Mylan, Sun Pharma, Dr. Reddy's and Jubilant. In the state Cipla Ltd was the product manufacturer.  The drug is supplied to the above manufacturers from depots at Bhiwandi, Pune and Nagpur across the state.

The state government was regularly pursuing an increased quota of remedicivir injections for the state.  According to his letter dated May 01, 2021, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the central government has approved a total stock of 8,09,500 remdesivir for Maharashtra from April 21 to May 9, he added.
