State enjoys better financial conditions: Karnataka CM Yeddyurappa

Participating in an interaction meeting with the media here, over the completion of 100 days in the office by the him, the Chief minister said, 'Financial condition of the state government is fine and the revenue collection is on satisfactory note'.

'Taking into considerations of the tax revenue collection, the economic condition of the state government is stable and no departments are facing financial crunch' he said.

Stating that Karnataka had witnessed one of the worst flood situation this year, which is unprecedented and caused huge destruction in over 18 districts, he said that “the state administration had been directed to provide all kind of relief to the flood victims”.

He said that for the first time in the history of the state, the flood victim families had been paid a cash compensation of Rs 10000 each and released funds to reconstruct the damaged houses.

Informing that the Union Government which had sent both the Home minister as well as Finance minister to monitor the flood situation in the state, had released an interim grants of rs 1200 crore, he maintained that 'we are focussing on rehabilitating the displaced persons on a war-footing'.

Replying to questions, he said that “the state government is on its right track in providing relief to the flood victims and Opposition parties also being taken into confidence in the matter”.

'There is no need for the Union Government to declare the floods which had caused unprecedented havoc and destruction, as National Calamity'.

'We are capable of handling the situation with the due co-operation from the Central government, he said.

Refuting the charges that his hands had been tied by the Union BJP leaders, Yediyurappa said, 'I am enjoying cent per cent confidence and freedom to discharge as the Chief minister'.

Informing that his immediate focus is on to ensure better rehabilitation of the flood victims and winning majority of seats in the December 5 by-elections to 15 Assembly seats, he said, 'I have full confidence that my government had made a good beginning in the last 100 days of coming into power'.

'As I am enjoying the confidence of the party’s Central leaders, I will complete the full term of the Assembly as the Chief minister of the state' he said.

Replying to questions, the Chief minister had strongly defended the state Government’s move to remove references relating to Tipu Sultan in the textbooks of the state-run schools.

'It is our stand and will abide by it' he said.
