Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly calls on Jitendra Singh

New Delhi, Aug 1 (IBNS): Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly Ranjeet Kumar Dass called on Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Jitendra Singh here on Monday and discussed a wide range of issues including the flood situation in Assam and various developmental projects under the Ministry of DoNER.

Ranjeet Kumar Dass lauded the prompt response of the Central Government which has helped in containing the devastation caused by the floods.

He said, the people of the State felt reassured by the visit of the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Union DoNER Minister Dr Jitendra Singh to the flood affected districts of the State, as well as to the Relief Camps set up for the flood victims.

He said, all the Ministers in the State Government are making all efforts to mitigate the sufferings of the people affected by these floods.

Jitendra Singh said, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and the Disaster Management Agencies had sent special teams for rescue operations and added that, in future also, there will be no dearth of cooperation from the Centre.

Dass meanwhile brought to the notice of  Jitendra Singh the project relating to the construction of a two-lane Railway Over-bridge in Barpeta district under the Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) funds of the Ministry of DoNER. He informed the Minister that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) had already been sent by the Government of Assam and he was personally following up the matter.

Jitendra Singh assured  Dass of every possible help and support from the Ministry of DoNER as well as the Central Government.

He said, the Prime Minister himself personally keeps a follow-up of the various development activities in the region. About the construction of Railway Over-bridge at Barpeta, Jitendra Singh said, he will issue instructions for expediting the project.
