Mumbai/IBNS: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested assistant police inspector Riyazuddin Kazi on Sunday noon for destroying evidence and his involvement in Antilla bomb scare and the muder of Mansukh Hiran murder cases along with main accused and former police office Sachin Vaze, said media reports.

Kazi was produced before a special NIA court and was remanded to NIA custody till April 16, said a Hindustan Times report.

“Kazi was working as assistant police inspector in the crime intelligence unit (CIU) and was well aware of the crime. He was also aware of the design and things that transpired after the case was transferred to the NIA. Hence, the accused started destroying evidence like CPU and DVR,” special public prosecutor Sunil Gonsalves argued before the court while seeking NIA custody, the report stated.

“Vaze has given half the facts and we need to question Kazi under whose guidance he had disposed of the evidence,” said Gonsalves.

NIA said that they needed to confront the accused with every document, article and witnesses, the report further added.

The central pobe agency told the court that the accused killed Hiran when NIA started a parallel probe in the case, fearing that he would reveal their plan.
