Removing Art 370 is daring, historic by PM, Amit Shah : Panneerselvam

Chennai, Aug 11 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister and ruling AIADMK Coordination O Panneerselvam on Sunday termed as daring and historic, the removal of Article 370 that had accorded Special Status to Jammu and Kashmir and lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for it.

Speaking at a function got up to release a book, a compilation of two years in office of Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu here, he said it equally fitting, that the book was being released by Amit Shah, who has just piloted one of the most important and courageous pieces of legislation in the Parliamentary history of India.

He said it was a long-awaited measure that removing the special status, accorded to Jammu and Kashmir, under Article 370, which was a key demand, voiced by late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in the Rajya Sabha in 1984.

''I take this opportunity, to heartily congratulate, the Prime Minister and Mr Amit Shah for the daring and historic achievement of removing the Article 370, of the Constitution," he said.

Panneerselvam said he was confident that this extremely significant politico-constitutional measure, will, not only strengthen, the unity and integrity, of India but also, reinforce federalism, by placing, all States on an equal footing.
