Rape & murder of Assam school teacher: Prime accused gets death sentence

Guwahati, Aug 1 (IBNS): A local court in central Assam’s Hojai district on Wednesday awarded death sentence to the prime accused in the rape and murder case of a 58-year-old school teacher more than a year ago.

According to the reports, the court of Additional District and Session Judge pronounced death sentence for the prime accused in the rape and murder case Moinul Haque and gave life imprisonment to co-accused Salimuddin.

The school teacher of Jamunamukh Changjurai Ilashi Deuri LP School in Hojai district was brutally raped and murdered on May 31 last year.

Police had recovered the body of the teacher from nearby Kapili river.

On June 1, 2017, Jamunamukh police had arrested one accused person Salimuddin and later arrested another accused.
