Rahul Gandhi's claims that Congress defeated BJP is laughable: Javadekar
New Delhi, May 19 (IBNS): Moments after Rahul Gandhi attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi following BS Yeddyurappa's resignation as Kanataka CM, the BJP countered the Congress chief and said it was 'laughable' to believe his claims that his party defeated the BJP in the southern state in the recently held Assembly elections.
"Rahul Gandhi's claims that Congress defeated BJP is laughable," BJP leader Praklash Javadekar said while addressing a press conference.
Congress President Rahul Gandhi attacked Narendra Modi after BJP strongman BS Yeddyurappa resigned as Karnataka CM and said the model of governance followed by the Primed Minister is 'dictatorship'.
"PM's model of governance is not democracy but dictatorship," Gandhi said.
He said the mandate of the people of Karnataka was saved following the political developments in Karnataka on Saturday.
"We have protected the mandate of Karnataka's people. If BJP had complete majority, we would have let them form the government. But, our alliance with the JD(S) has more votes. If you calculate our vote share, there is not competition at all," Gandhi said.
"The PM must understand he is not bigger than every single institution in the country," Gandhi said attacking the PM.
He said the quitting of Yeddyurappa proved that in India people of the nation is 'everything'.
"I am proud that opposition stood together and defeated the BJP, and we will continue to do so," he said.

BS Yeddyurappa, who took oath as the Chief Minister of Karnataka two days ago triggering a firestorm of controversy over the Governor's decision to invite a party without requisite numbers, resigned from the post at the Vidhan Soudha (Assembly) on Saturday,without taking a floor test.
The southern leader made the announcement ahead of the floor test which was scheduled to take place in the house at 4 pm.
The floor test was necessary after the BJP formed the government in the state despite having 104 seats, less than the majority numbers required. Congress and Janata Dal-S the two opposition parties that formed a post result alliance to keep BJP away from power, cried foul play and attempts of horse-trading by the BJP and had moved the Supreme Court which gave BJP just a day to prove its majority on the floor of the house as against 15 days' time by the Governor.
In an emotional address in the Assembly, Yeddyurappa said: "I am not moving this motion. I will go straight away to Raj Bhavan and submit my resignation."
Jubilations broke out in the Congress and JD-S camps immediately after the resignation of Yeddyurappa.
As per the Supreme Court order, the proceedings of the Assembly was telecast live.
Senior BJP MLA K.G. Bopaiah was appointed as the Pro Tem Speaker to oversee the proceedings inside the Assembly during the floor test on Saturday.
