Proud of your surgical strikes: Modi to Indian soldiers celebrating Diwali in Kashmir

New Delhi/Srinagar/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday heaped praises upon the Indian soldiers over their conduction of surgical strikes, which are considered a major success of the present central government in tackling cross border terrorism, five years ago as the country's most popular leader celebrated the festival Diwali with the Army at Nowshera in Kashmir's Rajouri district.

Addressing the soldiers, Modi said, "In the surgical strike, your contribution has made each one of us proud. I was waiting anxiously for the call, and didn't want any soldier to be left behind. But you came out as winners.

"Even after the strikes, innumerable attempts were made to disturb the peace here. The attempts are still being made. But everytime, terrorism gets a befitting reply."

Besides distributing sweets among the soldiers, the Prime Minister said 130 crore people of the country can "sleep peacefully" only because of the Army personnel.

This is the second occasion where Modi is celebrating Diwali with the soldiers in the Rajouri district where Nowshera is located.

In 2019, he celebrated Diwali with the troops in the Rajouri district.

In no respite from terrorism in the valley, the districts of Poonch and Rajouri have witnessed violence where at least 11 people were killed in the last three weeks.
