PM Modi reaches Brasilia to attend BRICS summit

Brasilia/IBNS: Indian PM Narendra Modi arrived in Brazil on Wednesday to attend the 11th BRICS summit hosted this time by Brazil.

MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted: "A welcome as vibrant as BRICS itself. PM  @narendramodi  arrives in Brasilia to participate in the 11th #BRICS Summit. This year’s Summit under the theme 'BRICS: Economic Growth for an Innovative Future' will further strengthen the traditional ties among the BRICS countries."

This will be Modi's second visit to Brazil, after he took part in the BRICS summit in 2014.

The last BRICS summit was hosted by South Africa in January last.

The big emerging markets of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South AFrica (BRICS) have come along way since their first summit in 2009.

This year huge business delegations from all the BRICS countries are participating in the Business forum.

During the summit, the leaders are expected to discuss intra-group cooperation for the economic development of BRICS societies. This year's theme is 'economic growth and innovative furture for BRICS economies.
