PM Modi greets CRPF personnel on 82nd raising day of force

New Delhi/UNI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday greeted the CRPF personnel on the 82nd raising day of the force.

"Greetings to all crpfindia personnel on the 82nd Raising Day of this outstanding Force. CRPF is at the forefront of keeping our nation safe. The courage and professionalism of this force are widely admired. May the CRPF achieve even greater heights in the coming years," the PM said in a tweet.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is India's largest Central Armed Police Force that functions under the authority of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of the Government of India.

It came into existence as the Crown Representative's Police on Jul 27, 1939.

After Indian Independence, it became the Central Reserve Police Force on the enactment of the CRPF Act on Dec 28, 1949.

Its primary role lies in assisting the State/Union Territories in police operations to maintain law and order and counter-insurgency.
