P. Chuba Chang likely to be elected unopposed in Nagaland by-poll

| @indiablooms | Mar 31, 2021, at 06:11 pm

Kohima/UNI: On the last date of filing nomination for the by-election of the Noksen Assembly constituency that ended yesterday, only one candidate from the ruling People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) P.  Chuba Chang has filed nomination papers.

However, the official announcement is yet to be out for scrutiny of the nomination paper.

According to official sources, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and the consensus candidate for the ruling PDA candidate P. Chuba Chang has submitted his nomination papers for the Noksen Assembly Constituency by-poll on the last day of the nominations, while the election process is still continuing.

A four-time Congress MLA from Tuensang and former Minister H. Chuba Chang was given the NDPP ticket to contest the by-election to the Noksen Assembly Constituency.

The Noksen seat fell vacant following the demise of Chongshen Mongkosungkum Chang, who was the Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Justice and Law on October 12 last year.

The by-election to the seat will be held on April 17.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer of Tuensang Kumar Ramnikant has notified that the training of polling personnel scheduled for today and tomorrow following the latest development of the by-election to the Noksen assembly constituency has been cancelled, sources added.
