Over 1,33,425 stranded Odias returned to Odisha till May 16: Official
Bhubaneswar/UNI: Over one lakh Odias stranded in other states due to lockdown have returned to Odisha, state Chief Spokesman on Corona Subroto Bagchi said here on Saturday.
Mr Bagchi said from May 3 till today 1,33,245 Odias have returned to Odisha by train/bus and other vehicles.
He said keeping in view the rise in number of COVID19 positive cases in the state the government has decided to increase the number of beds in the districts of Ganjam, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak and Balasore
East Coast Railway(ECoR) sources said till May 15, as many as 49 Odisha bound Shramik Special trains have arrived in the state.
Five trains started yesterday will be received at varioius stations in the state today. Six Special trains have either started today or will start today for Odisha destination. These trains are likely to arrive in Odisha tomorrow.
Mr Bagchi said up to midnight last night 86,140 samples have been tested and 737 positive cases were detected. While 196 persons have already been recovered and discharged as many as 538 are undergoing treatment in various hospitals and three people succumbed to the disease.As many as 718 people are in hospital isolation.
He said during last 24 hours 65 COVID19 positive cases have been detected out of which 62 are from various quarantine centres and three from home quarantine.
Mr Bagchi said in view of possible Cyclonic situation, Collectors have been directed to shift the Temporary Medical Centres/ Camps situated within 3 KMs from the seashore in the coastal districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur for safe accommodation of migrant workers.
The hospitals in these districts have adequate stock of fuel, generator, medicines, anti-venom and bleaching powder . Special medical teams have been constituted to oversee the situation.
He said during the last 24 hours 14 cases cases have been registered by the Police in the state for violation of different regulations and guidelines related to COVID-19 of which 9 cases for violation of lock down, 3 cases for violation of Home Quarantine and 2 cases for rumour mongering.
As many as 55 persons have been arrested by police for different violations, he said.
