Noida’s international airport, also known as Jewar airport, will be inaugurated on October 30, Union Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu announced on Tuesday.

Within 45 days of the inauguration, flight services to 10 major cities, including Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Kolkata, will begin.

Discussions have already been held with IndiGo and Air India Express to launch operations, the minister said.

The airport will be connected through six roads, a rapid rail-cum-metro link, and pod taxis, and will operate under the code ‘DXN’. Runway trials were successfully conducted on December 9 last year, with a commercial aircraft landing at the facility.

In July, airport authorities issued an advisory to builders, local authorities, and other stakeholders to adhere to height restrictions within a 20 km radius of the airport.

Naidu also announced that Hindon airport in Ghaziabad will be expanded, with a request for nine acres of land placed before the Uttar Pradesh government.

The expansion plan includes enlarging the parking area.

He said that free Wi-Fi will be rolled out at all airports across the country within two months, and that libraries will also be opened at airports soon for passenger convenience.
