NIA takes over probe into bomb attack on West Bengal Minister Jakir Hossain

Kolkata/IBNS: Nearly 13 days after West Bengal Minister Jakir Hossain was seriously injured in a bomb attack at Nimtita railway station in Murshidabad, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday took over the probe into the case, officials said.

According to reports, the NIA has re-registered the case, which is already registered with Azimganj GRP PS, and initiated an investigation.

Earlier on Feb 17 night, Bengal Minister of State for Labour, Jakir Hossain, and several of his followers were seriously injured as a bomb went off on the platform of Nimtita railway station when the minister was going to catch a train to Kolkata.

Besides GRP and RPF, state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) are probing the matter and three suspects, including one Bangladeshi national, have already been held in connection with the case.
