New Delhi: Indian PM Narendra Modi is currently addressing the nation on Monday.

He started his address at 5 pm.

"This is the biggest pandemic faced by modern world in last 100 years," Modi said.

He said different wings of the government worked hard to ensure supply of the oxygen during a rise in its demand in recent times.

"uring the 2nd wave in April-May, demand for medical oxygen increased at an unprecedented rate," he said.

He has been developing new health infrastructure to fight the COVID-19 situation.

"The nation is fighting the situation together," he said.

He said India's vaccination coverage was 60 percent during 2014 and it has now touched over 90 percent during his tenure.

"In the last one year, India launched two made-in-India vaccines. Today more than 23 crore vaccine doses administered," he said.

Modi said research on vaccine for children is currently going on.

"To increase vaccine availability, the process of procuring vaccines from abroad has been sped up," he said.

Modi said research is also going on to develop a nasal vaccine.
