Meghalaya police arrest GNLA terrorist

Guwahati, Oct 14 : The Meghalaya Police have arrested a hardcore militant of Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) in the state's South Garo Hills district.

The arrested militant was identified as Nikrak M Sangma and he is the commander of the militant group.

South Garo Hills district Superintendent of Police Abraham T Sangma said that, Nikrak M Sangma was arrested at Rongara area on Sunday evening.

The top Meghalaya cop further said that, the GNLA commander had entered into India from Bangladesh and managed to arrest him close to Indo-Bangladesh border.

“He was hiding in Bangladesh after security forces had cracked down the GNLA module in Meghalaya. He was trying to reorganise the group and visited the state many occasions in past a year,” Abraham T Sangma said.

The Meghalaya cop said that, Nikrak M Sangma had joined the GNLA in 2011.
