Guwahati/IBNS: In a shocking incident, a group of Naga women fled a leader of Naga rebel group National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) from the clutches of Assam Rifles' personnel in Manipur’s Ukhrul district on Thursday night.

The incident took place at Hoomi village area in Ukhrul district.

According to the reports, a self-styled Brigadier of NSCN-IM identified as Thotmathing was apprehended by the Assam Rifles personnel for illegal possession of arms and the troops were taking him to an Assam Rifles camp.

On hearing the arrest of the Naga rebel group leader, a large group of Naga women first blocked the road leading to Ukhrul from Hoomi village and intercepted the Assam Rifles convoy and shouted ‘Naga war cry’.

The Naga women group forcibly snatched the NSCN-IM leader from the clutches of the Assam Rifles troops.

The NSCN-IM leader was apprehended by the Assam Rifles personnel while he was travelling in a Bolero vehicle on Tolloi-Tadubi road along with his driver and another person.
