Kolkata/IBNS: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated state headquarters Nabanna's annex building Upanna in the Howrah district on Wednesday.

The building will function as the Chief Minister's Office or CMO.

"A control room of West Bengal and Kolkata Police and a room of Chief Secretary will also be present in Upanna," Mamata told a press briefing.

"We will work from here because of the scarcity of space in Nabanna," the CM added.

The foundation stone of the building was laid by Mamata in 2018.

Though Kolkata is the capital of West Bengal, Mamata had shifted the state headquarters to Howrah in 2013.

Earlier the iconic Writers' Building, the portions of which are now under reconstruction, in close to downtown Kolkata was the state headquarters of West Bengal.
