Maharashtra polls: Several rebels file nominations against party's official candidates

Aurangabad, Oct 5 (UNI): Rebellion fever grips across Aurangabad district when several rebel candidates file their nomination papers against official candidates on Friday for the Maharashtra Assembly polls slated for Oct 21.

Out of of nine Assembly seats, the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance partners are contesting three and six seats respectively.

As per the detailed report, in Phulambri constituency a Shiv Sena zilla parishad member filed his nomination against BJP official candidate and Maharashtra state Assembly speaker Haribhau Bagade.

Sena corporator Raju Vaidya filed his nomination against BJP candidate and minister of state for industry Atul Save.

In Aurangabad East seat, which was won by Imitaz Jaleel of AIMIM in 2014 election, a former district president of the party, Javeed Qureshi, has filed his nomination against official candidate Naser Siddqui and Kishanchand Tanwani of BJP also filed his nomination against official shiv sena candidate Pradeep Jaiswal

While in Arangabad West constituency which is reserved for the Scheduled Caste in which, official Sena candidate Sanjay Shirsath is contesting for third time, a BJP corporator Raju Shinde submitted his papers independently.

In Vaijapur, Sena's official candidate Ramesh Bornare facing Dinesh Pardeshi, who switched sides from Congress to BJP recently, is contesting as a rebel against Bornare. Also BJP district chief Eknath Jadhav also jumped in poll arena independently from same constituency.

In Kannad constituency, Harshawardhan Jadhav, former Sena MLA who later resigned from party over the issue of Maratha quota stir last year, is contesting as an independent candidate against Sena's official candidate Uday Singh Rajput.

Kishore Pawar, son-in-law of state water supply minister and BJP leader Babanrao Lonikar and Sena rebel Rajendra Rathod also filed their nominations in Kannad.

In Sillod former Congress MLA, Abdul Sattar is contesting election on a Sena ticket after joining party where BJP rebels like Suresh Bankar and Sunil Mirkar also submitted their nominations. The Congress has fielded Kaisar Azad from Sillod, where party rebel Prabahkar Palodkar too filed his nomination.

Nomination scrutiny will take place today and last date for nomination withdrawal is Oct 7.
