Lok Sabha: Suspension of 7 Congress MPs revoked

New DelhiUNI: Lok Sabha on Wednesday revoked suspension of seven Congress Members.

On March 5, seven Congress Members--Gurjeet Singh Aujla, Behanan Benny, Gaurav Gogoi, Dean Kuriakose, T N Prathapan, Manickam Tagore B and Rajmohan Unnithan were suspended for the remaining session for their unruly behaviour.

Moving a resolution on Wednesday, MoS Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal said the House resolves to terminate the suspension of the seven Members.

The motion was passed in the House and suspension of the Congress MPs revoked.

Prior to the revocation, Speaker Om Birla said he was personally pained by what had happened in the House.

He stressed on upholding the dignity of the House and said dissent is necessary for the country's democracy but the dignity should be maintained.

The Speaker said the decorum of the House should be maintained.

An all-party meeting was held today where the suspension was discussed along with the issue of smooth functioning of the House.

'We have to send across a healthy message from this House to everyone right till Gram Panchayats,' the Speaker added.
