Jammu, Oct 14 (UNI) Asserting that terrorists were using telephone service to mobilise and carry out attacks, Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik on Monday said that life of every Kashmiri is important and not the telephone.

Pertinent to mention here that postpaid mobile services were restored in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.

"Mobile services are restored and internet services would also be restored soon in the region.People made hullabaloo over no telephone service but we stopped it because terrorists were using them for their activities, mobilisation and carrying out attacks," he said reiterating the administration consider the people of Kashmir and not telephones.

The Governor was speaking at a programme in Kathua district.
"Now, telephone lines have been restored. People can now go about their lives. Tourists have started coming here," said the Governor adding that people had difficulties earlier but now they can speak to each other and soon internet services will also be restored.

On security scenario, he said, "not a 'single bullet' was fired and credit for this goes to the security forces for their vigil."

The decision to restore mobile phone service comes days after the Jammu and Kashmir Governor had announced the withdrawal of security advisory for tourists from October 10.

The mobile network and landline connections were suspended across Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, in view of security concerns in the region following Centre's decision to abrogate Article 370 that granted special powers to the region and the state was bifurcated into two Union Territories J&K and Ladakh.
