Kolkata: Woman allegedly gang-raped, robbed by burglars at her residence

Kolkata/IBNS: A young woman was allegedly robbed and gang-raped by dacoits inside her residence in Kolkata's Garden Reach area on Tuesday, reports said on Wednesday.

According to reports, the 26-year-old woman claimed that she was alone at her flat in Garden Reach's Paharpur Road area on Tuesday afternoon when a group of burglars entered her residence and robbed.

Besides robbing cash and jewellery worth Rs. 15 lakh, the burglars allegedly tied the woman with ropes and gang-raped her.

Later at night, the woman registered a complaint with Garden Reach Police Station.

Local police said that an investigation into the case has been initiated while CCTV footage of the area are being examined.

"Our forensic experts and officers from the Detective Department visited the location on Wednesday morning. Our probe is on and a medical examination of the complainant will be conducted," a senior city police official said.
