Kolkata/IBNS: Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP from Jadavpur Lok Sabha constituency, Mimi Chakraborty, on Wednesday unearthed an unauthorised vaccination drive flagged off by a fake IAS officer, days after she was reportedly jabbed from the same camp.

Mimi Chakraborty claimed that last week one Debanjan Deb, who impersonated as an IAS officer and a joint commissioner of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC), contacted her and requested her to join and promote a free vaccination drive.

"I was informed that the vaccination camp had been organized for third gender community as well as poor people, and I had agreed to join them and to promote the drive," actress-turned-MP Mimi Chakraborty said.

"I personally visited the camp and took a Covishield dose from the drive to encourage people," Chakraborty added.

Mimi Chakraborty said that she had started doubting about the authenticity of the camp when she did not receive either any text message or CoWin certificate, even a day after taking the vaccine.

"When I tried to gather more information, I came to know that the organizers did not register beneficiaries' names and other details after giving them vaccine, and I immediately informed the police," she added.

Later on Wednesday morning, police from Kasba Police Station stopped the vaccination camp, which was being run for last 10 days without any permission.

The city police also arrested the accused, Debanjan Deb, and seized a fake identity card, a vehicle with false stickers, WB government's special Biswa Bangla flag and blue beacon, and several other fake documents from his possession.

A senior Kolkata Police official said that a high-level probe had been initiated into the matter.

MP Mimi Chakraborty has alerted people to know well about vaccination camps before being jabbed.

"I still don't know what was pushed inside my body in the name of Covishield. So, will ask people to stay alert before joining any vaccination drive," she said.
