Kolkata/IBNS: The West Bengal State Election Commission has announced the elections to 144 wards of Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC), where polls were postponed due to COVID-19.

The elections will be held on Dec 19 while the results will be declared on 21st of the same month.

The voting will take place from 7 am to 5 pm.

The notification has been issued by the poll body.

However, the opposition parties have a long standing demand of holding elections to rest 113 civic bodies in the state as well.

In the 2015 elections to KMC, the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) had won 124 seats, CPI-M 13 seats, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) five seats and Congress two seats.
