Kolkata: Fire at Narkeldanga; 50 shanties gutted

Kolkata/UNI: A massive fire broke out at Chhagalpatty of Narkeldanga in the eastern part of the city this morning, reducing to ashes at least 50 shanties.

In all seven fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the blaze as plumes of smoke billowing from all over engulfed the entire area.

Fire Brigade Minister Sujit Bose rushed to the spot to oversee the situation and talked to the affected and the locals, who also immediately swung into action.

Bose informed that no casualty has been reported so far.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Details are awaited.

It might be mentioned that the state is witnessing total lockdown today to stem Covid spike.
