Kiren Rijiju attends Passing Out Parade of Recruit Constables at Police Training College, Delhi
They took the oath in a colourful ceremonial parade after successfully completing their basic training. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju took the salute of the marching contingents.
The parade was attended by Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik and other senior officers of Delhi Police.
These batches will augment the trained manpower of Delhi Police. 964 Constables including 202 Women showcase India’s unity in diversity as 433 Constables including 134 Women are from North East, besides 105 Constables of Daman and Diu Police.
This inclusion should help Delhi Police in capturing benefits of workplace diversity.
During long and hard training they acquired skills in Law, Police Science, Criminology, Computer Application, Cyber Crime and Human Rights with emphasis on professionalism, discipline and good behavior.
For effective community policing they have been sensitized on gender issues, Crimes against Women, Children & Senior Citizens.
With special emphasis on Safety and Security of Women, all the Women Constables have been trained in Unarmed Combat (UAC) & Commando.
In outdoor training, they are trained in handling of weapons, vehicle driving, firing practice. They are trained to use the latest weapons.
After witnessing their impressive march past, Chief Guest Rijiju gave away the ‘All-Round Best’ trophy to W/Ct. Chiewelou Thele.
In his address, Rijiju acknowledged the working challenges in the Delhi Police.
He said that the pan-India composition of the team would now enable the force to appreciate and be sensitized towards the diverse population in the burgeoning metropolis.
This, he said, can be enabled only through discipline.
He hoped the tough training will help them turn into true professional police personnel and encouraged them to come forward and accept the huge challenges of policing the national capital in a better way.
Rijiju was happy to know that these constables have been trained in counter-terrorism techniques, cybercrime, unarmed Combat etc.
Stating that the Police and Security Forces are burdened with great responsibilities, Rijiju hoped that they will certainly meet with the expectations.
He said the Delhi Police is amongst the best in the country, which should be maintained.
He further advised the police officers to be sensitive to the security needs of women and protect the poor and weaker sections of society.
