Kharagpur: IIT student allegedly commits suicide in hostel

Kharagpur/UNI: An IIT researcher in the department of Mechanical engineering has allegedly committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling in his hostel on Tuesday, additional police superintendent Kazi Samsuddin Ahmed said.

The person was identified as  Kondala Rao (30).

According to Sasuddin, this was a case of suicide though the reasons are not known.

Kondala married only two months back. He returned to IIT two weeks after to finish his project. He could not return to his place again due to lockdown.

B.N Singh, Register of IIT, said that lockdown may be the reason for this mishap.

Police is inquiring into the matter.
