| @indiablooms | May 13, 2018, at 02:39 am

Bengaluru, May 12 (IBNS): Several exit poll results have suggested a possible hung assembly in Karnataka, which went to election on Saturday.

The exit polls are however largely divided over the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerging as the single largest political party.

The total number of assembly seats in Karnataka is 224.

According to the India Today Y Axis My India exit poll, Congress will get 106-118, BJP 79-92, JDS+ 22-30, Others 1-4.

Times Now-VMR exit poll suggests Congress will get 97, BJP 94, JDS+ 28, Others 0-3.

News X-CNX exit poll suggest Congress can get 72-78, BJP 102-110, JDS+ 35-39, Others 3-5.

According to News Nation exit poll, Congress might get 75-84, BJP 99-108, JDS+ 31-40, Others 3-7.

Republic TV-Jan Ki Baat exit poll suggest Congress will get 73-82, BJP 95-114, JDS+ 32-43, Others 2-3.

ABP News- C Voter said Congress might win 82-94, BJP 101-113, JDS+ 18-31, Others 1-8.

Around 64 percent of voters exercised their franchise as polling for the Assembly elections was held on Saturday.

Voting took place in 222 of the 224 constituencies in the state.

Counting of votes will take place on May 15.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission on Friday deferred the poll in Rajarajeswari Nagar constituency in Karnataka to May 28.

The decision was taken just few hours before voting commences in Karnataka.

"The voting was deferred in view of “vitiation” of the electoral process on account of attempts by political parties and candidates to induce voters through distribution of freebies and illegal collection of EPICs aimed at either wooing the voters or keeping them from voting," The Times of India reported.

The commission cited two incidents of “serious nature” which compelled it to conclude that the electoral process had been vitiated.

The counting for the polling will take place on May 31.
