Jammu and Kashmir: Sarpanch killed by unidentified gunmen in Anantnag

Srinagar/UNI: A 35-year-old Sarpanch was killed by unidentified gunmen in south Kashmir district of Anantnag on Monday, official sources said here.

As per sources, unidentified gunmen fired at the Sarpanch, identified as Ajay Panditha, near Lok Bawan Larkipora in Anantnag on Monday afternoon. The Sarpanch was critically injured and rushed to Government Medical College (GMC), Anantnag, where declared brought dead.

However, the gunmen managed to escape from the spot. A search operation was launched in the area to nab the attackers, sources said.

“Police has registered a case and initiated investigation into the incident,” they added.
