Jammu and Kashmir:  Police-Public interaction held at Awantipora

Srinagar: As part of its public outreach programme, a Police-public interaction meeting wasfacilitated by Awantipora Police at Police Post Aripal, a press statement issued here said.

The interaction was conducted while maintaining social distancing norms and otherprotocols and was chaired by SSP Awantipora, Tahir Saleem–JKPS. 
He was also accompanied by SDPO Tral, SHO PS Tral and IC PP Aripal. 

The meeting was attended bythe respectable citizens of Aripal and Tral areas, including various local Imams, religiousleaders, Auqaf members, traders, Numbardars and Chowkidars. 

During the meeting, the participants raised various issues including drug abuse,minimum transport facility to far flung areas, exorbitant fares charged by transporters tothe passengers and other issues faced by the general public. 

The chairing officers assuredthe participants that their genuine grievances pertaining to police will be resolved onpriority and the issues pertaining to civil administration will be taken up with theconcerned departments for their early redressal. 

During the interaction meeting, SSP Awantipora requested the participants that theyshould take care of their wards especially youth and should check their cell phones etc. soas to keep them away from wrong and wayward influences.

He also said that phonenumbers of police officers are available 24 hours and anyone can contact police regardingany social crime in their respective areas.The statement further said that the participants in the meeting assured their fullcooperation to police in tackling social evils.

They also appreciated the role of police forthe actions against drug peddlers and poppy cultivators.Participants also hailed theefforts of police in facilitating community interaction meeting where participants expresstheir opinion freely, the statement said.
