Srinagar/UNI: Fifteen Plastic Explosive sticks were recovered by security forces in Tanghdar sector in north Kashmir district of Kupwara, a Defence Ministry spokesperson said on Sunday.

Lt Col Emron Musavi said that following specific intelligence information by J&K police, a joint operation was launched by police and Army in border towns of Karnah and Tangdhar on Saturday.

He said the joint operation led to recovery of 15 sticks of Plastic Explosives near village Nichli Jabri of Tangdhar.

“These explosives were hidden in a Dhok for further transshipment to the hinterland,” he said.

He said security agencies and civil administration in Karnah Tehsil continue to work hand in hand to negate the security threat of smuggling of narcotics, weapons and stores for militant organisations in J&K, through Tangdhar bowl.

“In the last two years, a total of 28 weapons and over 60 kgs of narcotics have been recovered from Karnah, apart from a host of explosives, including ammunition and grenades,” he added.
