Chennai: Indian PM Narendra Modi on Saturday commenced his second day of Tamil Nadu visit by what seems to be his attempt in helping in cleaning up the Mamallapuram beach.

He also shared a video of his act on social media. He could be seen plogging on the beach on Saturday morning.

In the video, Modi could be seen the garbage.

"Plogging at a beach in Mamallapuram this morning. It lasted for over 30 minutes. Also handed over my ‘collection’ to Jeyaraj, who is a part of the hotel staff. Let us ensure our public places are clean and tidy!Let us also ensure we remain fit and healthy," he captioned the video.

What does plogging mean?

According to Collins online dictionary, plogging has been described as the new pastime taking off in Sweden where people go for a jog and pick up litter at the same time. You pick and you jog – hence the term ‘plog.’

Modi visited Tamil Nadu to attend the second informal summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
