Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla meets Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa

Colombo/New Delhi/UNI/IBNS: Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla on Tuesday called on Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, during which they reaffirmed the strong bilateral ties of friendship and cooperation and discussed ways to further advance the comprehensive partnership at all levels.

In a tweet, the Indian High Commission said: “Foreign Secretary

@harshvshringla called on President HE Gotabaya Rajapaksa @GotabayaRtoday."

“They reaffirmed the strong ties of friendship & cooperation between India & Sri Lanka and discussed ways to further advance this comprehensive partnership at all levels,” read the tweet.

Later, the Foreign Secretary interacted with officials of the Indian High Commission.

“Foreign Secretary @harshvshringla interacted with HCI officers at the Mission premises today. Team HCI is truly grateful for his words of encouragement and support,” it tweeted.

He later left for India on the conclusion of his Sri Lanka visit, which included going to Kandy, Trincomalee and Jaffna, and holding delegation level talks with Lankan Foreign Secretary Admiral (Retd) Prof. Jayanath Colombage. On Monday, he called on Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, and Foreign Minister G.L. Peiris, and the two jointly inaugurated four projects in the housing and education sectors.

“Foreign Secretary @harshvshringla concluded a productive 3 day visit to Sri Lanka involving notable engagements in Colombo, Kandy, Trincomalee and Jaffna.

“His visit will give further impetus and momentum to India-Sri Lanka ties,” said the High Commission.
