New Delhi/IBNS: On the occasion of the 72nd Army Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said the Indian Army is known for its valour and professionalism.

As it is the day to salute once again our Indian soldiers who toil endlessly to protect the country, Modi tweeted, " Our Army is known for its valour and professionalism. It is also respected for its humanitarian spirit. Whenever people have needed help, our Army has risen to the occasion and done everything possible! Proud of our Army. I pray for the good health of Shamima and her child."

On the occasion of the Army Day, the Army showcased its military might and some of its state-of-the-art assets at a parade here.

Army chief Manoj Mukund Naravane, Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria, Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh and Chief of Defence Staff Gen Bipin Rawat were present at the parade.

Speaking on the occasion, General Naravane said the Indian Army is ready for any future war and the borders are strongly guarded.

Hailing the abrogation of Article 370, he said the "historic" step has disrupted the "proxy wars" by the neighbouring nation.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, "My salute to the courage and determination of every jawan and officer of the Indian Army. The country is eternally grateful to you for your service."

Former Indian cricketer and BJP MP Gautam Gambhir tweeted, "“ You have never lived until You have almost died, And for those who choose to fight, Life has a special flavor, The protected will never know!!! “ - Capt R Subramanium."
