India records 53601 COVID-19 cases in past 24 hours

New Delhi: India has recorded 53,601 fresh cases of coronavirus or COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health reported.

The total number of cases have now touched  22,68,676.

The country has recorded 871 fresh COVID-19 deaths in the same one-day period.

The death toll due to the highly infectious disease is now 45257.

The Ministry said  around 47,746 COVID-19 patients have been successfully cured and discharged from medical facilities across  India in the past 24 hours.

At present, there are 6,39,929 active cases of coronavirus in India.

So far,  15,83,489 cases have been discharged.
