India-Pak conflict: Gurdaspur to remain under complete night-time blackout from tonight

| @indiablooms | May 08, 2025, at 05:45 pm

Chandigarh/IBNS: A complete night-time blackout will be imposed on the Punjab district of Gurdaspur from Thursday in the wake of the escalation of India-Pakistan conflict after Operation Sindoor, media reports said.

Gurdaspur will remain under night-time blackout from 9 pm to 5 am daily until further notice.

Hospitals and jails are exempted from the blackout. However, the windows and doors will have to be kept closed to avoid leakage of light.

The Gurdaspur administration has requested all residents and commercial establishments to follow the orders strictly.

A historic city, Gurdaspur is located in the Majha region of Punjab, India, nestled between the Beas and Ravi rivers.

It serves as the administrative headquarters of Gurdaspur district and lies near the India-Pakistan border.

India destroys Air Defence System in Lahore

India has negated Pakistan's bid to escalate after the Operation Sindoor and destroyed the Air Defence System in Lahore, media reports said.

The India government said Pakistan attempted to engage a number of military targets in Northern and Western India including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj, using drones and missiles.

These were neutralised by the Integrated Counter UAS Grid and Air Defence systems.

The debris of these attacks is now being recovered from a number of locations that prove the Pakistani attacks.

The Defence Ministry said, "Today morning Indian Armed Forces targeted Air Defence Radars and systems at a number of locations in Pakistan. Indian response has been in the same domain with same intensity as Pakistan. It has been reliably learnt that an Air Defence system at Lahore has been neutralised."

"Pakistan has increased the intensity of its unprovoked firing across the Line of Control using Mortars and heavy calibre Artillery in areas in Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar and Rajouri sectors in Jammu and Kashmir."

Sixteen people including three women and five children have been killed due to Pakistani firing.

In a strong message for Pakistan, India cleared it would adhere to their commitment of "non-escalation" as long as it is respected by the "Pakistan military".

"Indian Armed Forces reiterate their commitment to non-escalation, provided it is respected by the Pakistani military," the Defence Minister said.
