I will be people’s LG: Telangana Guv Tamilisai taking additional charge of Puducherry

Puducherry/IBNS: Telangana Governor Tamilisai Sounderarajan, who assumed office as the Lt Governor of Puducherry, on Thursday said that she will be a people’s Lt Governor and will be striving for their welfare.

Talking to the media after assuming the office, the LG said that she is very happy that she took the oath in Tamil which was not hitherto possible since, the person who assumed office as the LG do not know Tamil language.

The first file she signed was one to provide financial assistance to SC/ST followed by one to provide financial assistance for Aids Control society.Coming to know that the rate of Covid vaccination is less in Puducherry, she said that she will visit the vaccination centre later to encourage the people to believe Indian vaccine and take the vaccines.

To a question on the opposition memorandum to direct chief minister V Narayanasmay to prove his majority, Tamilisai said that she will study the issue properly and do the needful as per the constitutional provision. On the allegation that Tamil officers in Puducherry are being sidelined by those from North India, she said that as long as Tamilisai is the LG of Puducherry Tamil language will be respected.

To another question she said that she is aware of the powers of the Governor, Lt.Governor, chief minister, legislators and officials and the powers of all will be protected within the framework.

Asked about her posting here at the time of elections, Tamilisai said that she did not come here with any ulterior motive. She also assured to look into the unemployment problems and closure of ration shops here.
