Hindu Yuva Vahini president escapes unhurt in attack in UP

Azamgarh/UNI: Hindu Yuva Vahini (HYV) Uttar Pradesh president Rakesh Rai escaped unhurt along with his supporters when his SUV was stoned in Mehnagar in the district late on Sunday night.

Police sources here on Monday said while Rai and his supporters escaped unhurt but his SUV was badly damaged in the stone pelting.

The incident occurred when Rai, along with his supporters, was returning to Azamgarh at his residence after attending a programme at Senpur village under Kerakat in the adjoining Azamgarh district.

Police said that the stone pelting happened near Gaura village. Later police rushed to the spot and investigation was underway.

Superintendent of police (SP) Triveni Singh said here that police has seized huge quantity of stones and several slippers from the spot. He said that the guilty would not be spared.
