Govt ready to deliberate on all the demands of farmers : Amit Shah
New Delhi/IBNS: Union Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said the government is ready to discuss the concerns of the agitating farmers who have been camping outside the national capital, said media reports.
In a video message Shah urged the farmers to call off their protest as the government is ready to consider every issue troubling them.
According to media reports Shah has said the Central government will hold talks with the farmers unions on December 3. However, if they want a meeting before that they must shift to a government-designated venue, he added.
"If farmers' unions want to hold discussions before December 3 then, I want to assure you all, that as soon as you shift your protest to the structured place, the government will hold talks to address your concerns the very next day," he was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Earlier, Union minister of agriculture Narendra Singh Tomar had also requested the farmers to end their protests and requested the opposition not to politicise the issue.
According to ANI Bharatiya Kisan Union general secretary Harinder Singh said the farmers will halt their protests at Singhu in Delhi-Haryana border and hold meetings every day at 11 am to discuss the course of their protest.
Singh also said that the farmers unions have decided to continue their protest at the point and not shift anywhere else.
Farmers and opposition leaders criticised the Centre's move of passing the farm laws, stating small peasants will have little bargaining power while selling their produce to institutional buyers, running the risk of getting exploited.
The laws (then bills) had also left the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) red-faced as its ally Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) had left the ruling national coalition on the issue.
