Gehlot v Pilot case: No stay on HC order by Supreme Court, next hearing on Monday
New Delhi/IBNS: In a setback for the Ashok Gehlot camp in Rajasthan, the Supreme Court on Thursday refused to put a stay on the high court's upcoming order on the disqualification notices served to 19 rebel Congress MLAs by Assembly Speaker CP Joshi.
The top court has also said the rebel MLAs can't be disqualified till its next hearing, which will happen on Monday, irrespective of the judgement passed by the high court.
The high court will on Friday pass its verdict on the pleas filed by the rebel MLAs challenging the Speaker's disqualification notices.
The Congress government in Rajasthan plunged into a political crisis more than a week ago after then Deputy Chief Minister Pilot flew to Delhi revolting against CM Ashok Gehlot.
Pilot claimed he had the support of 30 MLAs who would walk out of the government with him.
After Pilot skipped two consecutive meetings of MLAs chaired by Gehlot, the 42-year old leader was sacked as the Deputy CM and the party's state president.
Gehlot has claimed the support of 109 lawmakers including 107 from his own party and two from a regional outfit.
