'Ganga flows from Bihar to Bengal': PM Modi maps BJP’s next victory

“The river Ganga flows to Bengal via Bihar. And the victory in Bihar, like the river, has paved the way for our victory in Bengal,” Modi said in his hour-long address to party workers at BJP headquarters in Delhi.

The NDA secured over 200 of the 243 seats in Bihar, with the BJP emerging as the single-largest party.

Modi lauded the party’s karyakartas for their role in the triumph, saying, “Your hopes are my pledge and your dreams are my inspiration. For the BJP, the party workers are its strength.”

Highlighting the defeat of the Mahagathbandhan, Modi urged Bengal voters to “uproot Jungle Raj” from their state, signaling a direct challenge to Banerjee’s government.

“Not just in Bengal, this victory will inspire our workers in the south too,” he added.

Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar echoed the Prime Minister’s message under the party’s ‘Mission Bengal’ banner, declaring, “Now the time comes to clean up the jungles of Bengal.”

Bengal BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari also predicted a “spectacular” win for the party in the state elections next year.

The Trinamool Congress responded sharply on social media.

Using an old video of Banerjee declaring, “It is not easy to play with us,” the party said: “Bring it on… In 2026, the people of Bengal will democratically crush your arrogance underfoot and send you crawling back in disgrace. You are not welcome here, and you never will.”

Trinamool spokesperson Kunal Ghosh dismissed any link between Bihar’s results and Bengal’s political dynamics. “That is Bihar’s equation. It has no connection with Bengal; with over 250 seats, Mamata Banerjee will become chief minister again,” he said.

With the BJP ramping up its campaign and projecting Bihar’s victory as a model, West Bengal is set to witness intense political battles ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
