New Delhi/UNI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday said that it has taken over investigation of explosive found in vehicle (Scorpio) parked on the Carmichael Road in Mumbai near the residence of Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani on February 25 this year.

The anti-terror probe agency's move came after the Union Home Ministry asked it to investigate the incident and the agency has been in process of re-registering the case which was registered under FIR 35/2020 at Gamdevi police station on February 25 by the Mumbai police, the officials said.

The NIA will also investigate the alleged suicide of the owner of the Scorpio Hiren Mansukh who was found dead in a creek in neighboring Thane on last Friday.

The Thane police also said he was missing since March 4 and his body was found on the banks of the creek along the Mumbra Reti Bunder road.

Mansukh's Scorpio with gelatin sticks inside was found near 'Antilia', Ambani's multi-storey residence in South Mumbai which was claimed to be stolen from Airoli-Mulund Bridge on February 18 when Mansukh left his vehicle at the said bridge after it developed some technical snag.

This case was being investigated by the Crime branch of Mumbai Police and later the Maharashtra Government handed over the case to Mumbai ATS.

Earlier, Crime Branch of Mumbai police had recorded Mansukh's statement in the case. Mansukh, a spare parts dealer, had said he had lodged a police complaint after the SUV was stolen.

On Friday afternoon, his family members had approached Naupada Police Station in Thane, saying he had gone missing.
