New Delhi/IBNS: Hours after an Indian Army personnel tested positive for the novel coronavirus, the Centre has instructed the forces to go into "battle mode."

An advisory has been issued by the government to the soldiers detailing their roles and responsibility in containing the spread of a virus further.

The Indian Army comprises of at least 10 lakh men and women, posted across the country including remote hilly terrains of Jammu and Kashmir and Naxal-hit areas.

"It is a big challenge to keep the force healthy, as most stay in barracks and move around in troops," a senior ministry official reportedly said.

Personnel have been directed not to travel and stay in assigned locations.

At present, India has over 150 positive cases of COVID-19, with three deaths recorded already.

Worldwide, the virus affected almost 190,000 people and the global death toll is nearing 7,000.
