'Does a match end in only one innings?': Congress leader Lakshman Seth on his second marriage at 77

Kolkata/IBNS: Former Left heavyweight and current Congress leader Lakshman Seth has recently hit the headlines not for political reasons but for one of his decisions in personal life.

Seth, 77, got married for the second time to a woman who reportedly hails from Kolkata.

Speaking on his decision to get hitched for the second time, Seth said on Friday, "Does a match end in only one innings? Never. It's true I have turned old and it is because of that I wanted to have someone beside me. So I got married."

"I wanted to have a person with whom I can talk, share thoughts at the end of the day. The person whom I got married to is well educated, politically aware though she is a non-political person. She is very intelligent," he added.

Seth, who is from politically-charged Tamluk in the Midnapore district, was a CPI-M MLA from 1982-1996 and an MP from 1998-2009.

Five years after Trinamool Congress (TMC) came to power in West Bengal, Seth was expelled from the Communist party in 2016 following which he switched to the diametrically opposite outfit Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

He was expelled from the BJP in 2018.

Seth then joined the Congress and fought the 2019 Lok Sabha polls from Tamluk on the grand old party's ticket.

As per reports, Seth wanted to join TMC but party chief Mamata Banerjee refused to entertain his wish.
