Delhi can be vaccinated in next 3 months if we get 80-85 lakh vaccine doses per month: Arvind Kejriwal

New Delhi/UNI: Requesting the Centre to ensure adequate availability of COVID-19 vaccines to Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday said if 80-85 lakh doses of vaccines are provided per month, the city government can achieve its target of vaccinating the entire National Capital in three months.

Addressing a digital press conference here, Kejriwal said Delhi has a population of 2 crores.

He said 1 crore people are above 18 years, 50 lakhs are below 18 years and 50 lakhs are above 45 years.

Kejriwal said there are 1.5 crore people above 18 years of age in the National Capital so the Delhi government requires 3 crore vaccine doses.

'We have got 40 lakh vaccine doses, and need 2.60 crore more vaccine doses. If this much vaccine is made available, then Delhi will be vaccinated in three months,' Kejriwal said.

He said at present 1 lakh people in a day are being administered vaccine doses in Delhi.

At present, vaccination is being held in 100 schools, which 'we will further expand to 300 schools', he said.

The Delhi Chief Minister further said that only vaccination can protect from the third wave of COVID-19.
