Mumbai/IBNS: As the deadline for government formation draws closer in Maharashtra, the BJP said it has "good news" and it would meet the Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Thursday.

According to an NDTV report, six Shiv Sena ministers attended a meeting on the farm crisis in the state after rains.

During the meeting the issue of government formation in the state was discussed for the first time after the results of the Maharashtra elections on Oct 24.

"You cannot separate water, no matter how much you try to. Shiv Sena and BJP are together... We should wait for the news, the good news can come anytime," BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar was quoted as saying by NDTV after the meeting.

He maintained that the government will be formed by the alliance(Shiv Sena-BJP) despite the speculations that Shiv Sena might ally with other parties.

A BJP meeting was also held at Devendra Fanavis' house to discuss the allocation of portfolios among Shiv Sena MLAs.

Asked about BJP's meeting with the Governor, Sena leader Sanjay Raut said the party will act according to the directions of its chief Uddhav Thackeray.

According to the NDTV report, even as Shiv Sena still holds on to its 50:50 demand for the post of Chief Minister, it may eventually agree to settle with bigger portfolios to end the stalemate.

The government formation in Maharashtra has been delayed after Shiv Sena demanded turn at the Chief Minister's post based on 50:50 formula which the BJP denied.
