Congress leader Siddaramaih critical of extravagant welcome given to Trump

| @indiablooms | Feb 24, 2020, at 05:56 pm

Kalaburagi/UNI: Senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah said on Monday that US President Donald Trump is our guest, and it is out duty to welcome him wholeheartedly, but our Prime minister Narendra Modi has gone out of his way and treating him like an extra special guest which is absolutely unnecessary.

Addressing the media Siddramaiah said Donald Trump arriving India is welcome but a trade deal which is tilted towards US imports in not acceptable.

Siddaramaiah said Trump's visit to India is not of much use as he has been targeting a reduction in the US’ overall trade deficit with India. He has also been putting pressure upon India to reduce tariffs on US goods and services, but India should not bend before Trump and only accept a honest trade deal.

Siddramaiah said that all Congress leaders in the country want Rahul Gandhi to once again become the AICC President and the Congress High command should appoint the KPCC president quickly on a priority basis.

Siddaramaih dismissed any talk of leaving the Congress and floating his own political outfit, calling such actions politically immature.

He also said the state Congress will not use the internal crisis of state BJP and try and grab power in the state.
