Rai Bareli, Oct 22 (UNI) Congress MLA Aditi Singh's cousin Manish Singh on Tuesday announced to join the grand-old-party, in the presence of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, in party stronghold Rai Bareli.

Vadra reached here on Tuesday for a three-day visit and met the party workers and members of the state executive on the first day and assessed the ground situation.

Party sources said that Manish Singh will join the Congress on Wednesday. Singh had earlier contested on a BSP ticket from Rai Bareli's Harchandrapur Vidhan Sabha seat but had lost to Congress candidate Rakesh Singh in 2017.
Manish Singh will now return to the Congress and party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi will confer him with the membership of the party.

Talking to UNI, Manish said that Rai Bareli is Congress bastion and he decided to join the party as he was impressed with Ms Vadra's politics.

Responding to a question about Aditi Singh's growing closeness with the BJP, Manish Singh said, "Family and politics should not be mixed. Both have their own place and boundaries. I liked the Congress's ideology, so I am joining the party. She can choose to go wherever she likes."

Further, Manish Singh said, "I am joining the Congress as a party worker. Whatever responsibility Priyanka Gandhi confers on me, I will fulfill it with full honesty." Although, he added that he had earlier been with the Congress and he was now doing a 'ghar-waapasi.'
