Cobrapost-Paytm controversy flummox app users
New Delhi, May 26(IBNS): Paytm users are caught in a conundrum with a media house claiming that the app-based payments facilitator has shared its user data with the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) and Paytm denying the allegations.
On Friday, Cobrapost tweeted, "#MediaOnSale: While talking to Ajay Shekhar, The Sr. Vice President of paytm, journalist Pushp Sharma came to know some shocking facts about this app"
Same day, Cobrapost on its website, claimed that Vice President Sudhanshu Gupta and Sr. Vice President Ajay Shekhar Sharma of Paytm, in interviews with their reporter, not only talked about their political associations but also sharing of user data.
"These interviews proved to be quite revealing and shocking, as the top honchos not only boast of their close association with the RSS but are also candid enough to confess to have shared the data of millions of their app users with the central government," the media house said in its website.
However, Paytm has denied the allegations.
In a blog published on Saturday, Paytm said, "There is a video going around on social media and it falsely claims that we shared some data with 3rd parties. Nothing can be further from the truth.

Our policy allows ONLY legally compliant data requests through a thorough process from law of the land to get access to data for necessary investigations."
Addressing its user, Paytm also that they "have neither received requests nor shared any data without a legally compliant request from a bonafide agency and through proper process and channels. You can be sure, we have never shared, nor will share your data with anyone whom you never gave us permission to share with. This is the holy grail of trust between us."

However, users have no way of knowing who is telling the truth.
